It is said that CM is in Delhi to attend meeting pertaining to finance ministry.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Srivastava is also in Delhi. It may be noted that home
minister Ravi Naik and congress MLA Pandurang Madkaikar has visited Delhi.
I returned from Delhi today and camping in Mumbai now, said Ravi Naik while
talking to Digital Goa over phone. My visit was non political, he added.
According to sources, Madkaikar met Congress general secretary in-charge of
Goa desk B.K.Hariprasad. He has once again assured him cabinet berth. It is
learnt that CM held meeting with Subhash Shirodkar and other leaders in Panaji
before leaving for Delhi.
They discussed about the performance of congress in the ZP elections. They
also discussed proposed induction of Madkaikar in cabinet, sources closed to
CM said.
It is learnt that congress party at Centre is firm on dropping one minister
from the cabinet. The only question is whether this decision is implemented
before assembly session or after the session. There is a growing feeling in
the party that Congress high command is being challenged and humiliated by group
- 7, particularly by NCP over recent move of dropping one minister.
Group- 7 is also strong and united. In the recent ZP election, G-7 has performed
extremely well. In other words, group was succeeded in exhibiting its strength
to congress in ZP elections.
Vishwajit Rane, Babush Monserrate along with NCP and MGP fought ZP battle successfully
and unitedly. NCP minister Micky Pacheco and Juze Philip Dsouza challenged congress
legislators Alex Sequeira and Mauvin Goudinho respectively. Vishwajit posed
threat to Home minister Ravi Naik in Usgao- Curti- Khandepar. He also took on
congress party in Sattari and Bicholim.
Sources say, congress will now try to drop one minister to cut G-7 group down
to size.
