Crimes by Nigerians on the rise in Goa

Panaji, April 25 - Crimes involving Nigerians are on rise in Goa. In last one week Goa police have arrested four Nigerians for crimes such as rapes, drugs trade, overstaying
etc.

One Mr. Micheal Oakakar, aged 28 a Nigerian national has been arrested on Saturday by Anjuna police. He was staying at Parra- Bardez without proper documents. Two days back cops arrested one Mr. Felix Otedo a Nigerian national for possesing drugs worth Rs. 25 lac. Cocaine and ecstay recoverd from him.

On April 20 Canacona police arrested a Nigerian youth Obi Okaroafor for raping a 28 year old Australian women. Police says that Okaroafor has been arrested thrice in Goa in connection with drugs trade.

Police have started cracking down against Nigerians who are involved in criminal activities. Two months back police were arresting Russians for nefarious activities. In one month police sent few Russians behind bar including one for Murder case at Arambol.

In Goa in last four months all together 76 foreign nationals have been booked for indulging in various crimes. Out of these 50 percent for staying in country without proper documents. It is also found that some are destroying their passports and changing their identity to continue crimes. In 2009 for first four months police had booked 75 foreigners and in 2008- 58 foreign nationals were sent behind bar.
